The eighth season of SpongeBob SquarePants was announced in July 2009. Nickelodeon has ordered enough episodes to bring the series up to 152 Episodes. Previously, when season seven was announced, the number of episodes was brought up to 139 episodes.[1] Season 8 will air in April 13, 2010 with the double-lenght special named "Shadow". Shadow is released on DVD in April 14, 2010.

Um, production on season 7 will still be ongoing in April of 2010, so it would be impossible for an episode from season 8 to air on April 13th. In fact, as of this writing, there has been no official announcement of a season 8 pick-up at all.

No, SpongeBob's currently on season 8 and there's a season 9 which just came this year on July 21, 2012. Plus season 7 sucked, season 8 is starting to pick up a bit. Maybe season 9 will still be good as season 8 or better like seasons 1-3 who knows? :)
