SpongeBob's history can be traced back to 1993 when Rocko's Modern Life first aired. One of the producers was Stephen Hillenburg, a cartoon worker/marine biologist who loved both his careers. When Rocko's Modern Life was canceled in 1996, Hillenburg began working on SpongeBob, although sketches trace back to 1987.

Spongebob is a Cancer and he's 23. (From all the moodiness and sensitivity I could have guessed that)
Squidward is a Libra and he's 32 (explains the narcissistic scenes)

Sandy is 22 and she's a Scorpio (Loyalty and strong personality, although I would have guessed an Aries)

I've seen this question asked a couple of times and people always assume that Spongebob is a Sag. I always thought it would make more sense if he was a water sign.

I actually know Hillenburg's brother personally, and knowing him, I would say, yeah, it was probably planned.

The Two Faces of Squidward" is an episode from Season 5.

It is a very busy day at the Krusty Krab. during this busy time, SpongeBob and visiting neighbor Patrick are playing together while ignoring the angry customers...and Squidward, who begins to argue with them. Finally, Squidward has had it and heads to the kitchen to deal with SpongeBob himself, only for SpongeBob to slam the door open on Squidward. This breaks the face of Squidward, and is soon at the hospital. While there SpongeBob gives Dr. Gill Gilliam an annoyingly dramatic scene. The doctor is able to tell SpongeBob to wait two weeks before Squidward's bandages can be removed. Oddly enough, it seems like two weeks have already passed. SpongeBob is already at the hospital, where he gives an old lady flowers (in which she can't remember what her favorite color of flowers are). Soon, he arrives to Squidward's room.

Squidward was able to tell Gill Gilliam that he does not want SpongeBob anywhere near him, which Dr. Gill Gilliam says to SpongeBob, only for him to ignore it. After many tries for the bandages to be removed, only for SpongeBob to interrupt annoyingly, they're removed. The doctor and his nurse faint with glee, but SpongeBob and Squidward are dumbfounded. It turns out that Squidward's injury caused him to become handsome, or a hunk as SpongeBob called him. Soon, all of Bikini Bottom is full of glee and happiness due to Squidward's new face. In fact, it causes a few fish to become better or receive some of their mobility back! (one old lady, not the one SpongeBob saw earlier, was able to walk again after being in a wheelchair...all thanks to Squidward!) Squidward soon obtains a limo, and with SpongeBob, sighs in happiness over his new found fame...for now. Not long after he gets home, everyone in the city crowds around his house, and remain there the whole night. The next morning, they still want him to come out, and he does. As a result, everyone jumps on Squidward, where he's able to escape back into his house. Not long after, his shirt and his Clarinet are stolen. This also adds to the fact that Squidward has no privacy when doing things such as taking a bath. After this, Squidward is tired of the fame, and runs to the Krusty Krab to get SpongeBob for help. With everyone in the city just outside of locked doors that were locked as such due to Mr. Krabs, for some reason, SpongeBob continues to smack the door into Squidward to repeat the very incident that caused Squidward to become handsome in the first place. It does not work, but instead, causes Squidward to become even more handsome. Soon, SpongeBob spots a shoe, (which came off the foot of a fish when Squidward caused him to fly earlier), smash through the roof and moves directly toward Squidward. There is a slow motion scene of SpongeBob pushing Squidward out of the way of the shoe (the shoe hitting SpongeBob and ultimately causing no injury whatsoever) and into a support column of the building. The end result causes Squidward's face to return to normal. Mr. Krabs is upset over the departure of everyone, and tries to get Squidward's face back to its handsome look, but is unsuccessful.

Spongebob 7 deadly sins?

Q. They say the main characters of Spongebob Squarepants are based of the 7 deadly sins. Can someone tell me when they are?

1. Greed (Mr. Krabs) - this is by far the most obvious comparison that can be made. The avarice of Eugene Krabs is made painfully clear throughout the series. He is constantly thinking of ways to turn a profit, even if it involves taking advantage of his friends or putting them in harmful situations! In one episode, he sings a song called âIf I Could Talk to Moneyâ...and thereâs even a wiki page devoted to compiling all of his greedy plans!

2. Envy (Plankton) - another no brainer. With all of Krabsâ wealth and good fortune, there has been an equal amount of hard luck and failure for his archrival, Sheldon Plankton. Plankton owns a struggling restaurant called âThe Chum Bucketâ and is consumed with the desire to achieve the success of his adversary. His lifeâs goal is to steal the Krabby Patty formula from his Krabs and drive his primary competitor out of business.

3. Sloth (Patrick) - the guy lives under a rock for crying out loud! If that isnât enough to convince you, in the episode âBig Pink Loserâ Patrick is given an award for âdoing absolutely nothing longer than anyone elseâ. He then proceeds go back under his rock to protect his title.

4. Pride (Sandy) - the fact that Sandy Cheeks is from Texas alone should almost suffice for this one. She is a squirrel that is very proud of her heritage, so much so that in one episode she nearly moved back home! Sandy also takes a great deal of satisfaction in being the only land critter living down in Bikini Bottom among all the fishy folk. Though generally a good-natured individual, Sandy is quick to spout off about the greatness of the Lone Star state or to show off her athleticism in a karate match or a weightlifting contest.

5. Wrath (Squidward) - Squidward Tentacles has no qualms about expressing his negative outlook on life, whether it be by describing how much he hates his job at the Krusty Krab or through outward disdain for his two obnoxious neighbors. He is portrayed as a general failure who refuses to acknowledge his own personal flaws. This constant self-denial manifests itself in a sarcastic sense of humor and resentment toward the society that doesnât âappreciateâ his creativity and clarinet...erm...âskillsâ.

6. Gluttony (Gary) - now this oneâs a bit trickier. Those who have watched a great deal of the series will have noticed a number of jokes about Spongebob having to remember to feed his pet snail. To be honest, Gary doesnât do a whole lot besides eating and meowing, and the meowing is often due to the fact that he is hungry. Once when Spongebob hadnât fed his pet, Gary is shown eating parts of their couch! In another episode, Gary runs away from home because Spongebob forgot to feed him for a while. Another time when Spongebob had amnesia, Gary ate a yearâs supply of snail food and became morbidly obese! This proves beyond a doubt that when left to his own devices, Gary would rather do nothing but eat.

7. Lust (Spongebob) - our final analogy is probably the least apparent because we typically think of âlustâ in a sexual sense. However, the alternative definition for lust is simply âa passionate desire for somethingâ. In this sense of the word, it cannot be denied that our absorbent yellow friend is an extremely lustful creature. Spongebob has a lust for life that is incomparable to most other cartoon characters - he yearns for the affections of both friend and foe alike, is eager to please, and will often stop at nothing to complete a task.

Squidward is oftentimes, bitter and angry as to how his life turned out. His anger is furthered increased when SpongeBob is involved.

Lust = SpongeBob
SpongeBob represents lust due to his over obsession of love for others. This love is not healthy, and usually causes annoyance for the citizens of Bikini Bottom.

Melancholy = Mrs Puff
In some religions, there are seven deadly sins, while in some, there are even more. Mrs Puff represents melancholy due to her despair of the trouble that SpongeBob causes her.

On the episode The Hash Slinging Slasher what do they(Sponebob,Squidward and the little dorky guy getting an application) say when the guy flicks the lights on and off. Is it the name of that guy flickering the light? Is he from an old cartoon or movie? I tried to put captions on it but I missed it. Thanks for your help!

What is the creepypasta "Spongebob bootleg Episode?"?

The video is made up of Jumbles and colors, Static, or just a black screen. The audio is the heavily distorted version of the audio with loud buzzing sounds interrupting it. It was found December of 2002 by five teens in an old mental hospital's dumpster. Sadly, Two killed themselves, one went missing, One refused to talk about it and one let paranormal investigators watch it. Many who stare at the Spongebob image (The image was Spongebob with red bloodshot eyes and no mouth) will see him blink, the current whereabouts of the tape is unknown.

Creepypasta story name or link?

A little while ago I read a story on Creepypasta and I can't seem to find it. It's about this lady who goes to some hospital and she kind of reminds you of a mannequin, and the nurses and doctors clean her up and then they want to do something to her but she doesn't want to and then she smiles and has crazy sharp teeth and she gets up and attacks this doctor, and when he says "who are you?" she says "I am God". Could anyone tell me what this article is and give me the link?

Is the "Ripped my pants" song from Spongebob "ripped" (forget the pun) from a different song? Kinda like the Goofy Goober one? Cause I really like the tune, just not the lyrics. Also, for some reason it sounds a lot like the Beach Boys. O.o

There is no official answer to this question, but most Spongebob fans agree that if it wasn't outright modeled after a Beach Boys song it was definitely heavily inspired by one. Many people believe it's based off of "Be True to Your School" or "I Get Around" and some even think it sounds just like "Don't Worry Baby" by the Ronettes.

From a strictly musical standpoint I've found that the chords in "Ripped Pants" most closely resemble those in "Be True to Your School" but then again there's tons of songs that have similar chords so this doesn't mean that that song was definitely based on any one in particular.

Media giant Viacom Inc. said its Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other channels will go dark for 13 million subscribers at 12:01 a.m. Thursday if a new carriage fee deal with Time Warner Cable Inc. is not agreed upon by then.

The impasse would mean "SpongeBob" and other popular shows like Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" and Stephen Colbert's "The Colbert Report" will be cut off on the nation's second-largest cable operator. Time Warner Cable primarily serves people in New York state, the Carolinas, Ohio, Southern California and Texas.

Viacom has asked for fee increases of between 22 percent and 36 percent per channel, or a total of $39 million more, an amount that could increase customers' cable bills, said Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley.

"The issue is that they have asked for an exorbitant increase in their carriage fees and their network ratings are sagging," Dudley said. "Basically we're trying to hold the line for our customer."

Viacom spokeswoman Kelly McAndrew disputed the figure, saying Viacom requested an increase in the very low double-digit percentage range.

Viacom said the increases would cost an extra 23 cents a month per subscriber. It said that Americans spend a fifth of their TV time watching Viacom shows but its fees make up less than 2.5 percent of the Time Warner cable bill.

"We make this request because Time Warner Cable has so greatly undervalued our channels for so long," Viacom said.

"Ultimately, however, if Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV and the rest of our programming is discontinued â over less than a penny per day â we believe viewers will see this behavior by their cable company as outrageous," Viacom said.

Time Warner Cable's Dudley said Viacom rejected his company's proposal to extend the contract while the sides continue to negotiate.

Instead, Viacom appealed directly to Time Warner Cable's customers, with TV ads in major markets. In Wednesday's New York Times, the company ran a full-page, color advertisement with Nickelodeon's animated bilingual heroine "Dora the Explorer" crying and clinging to her monkey pal, Boots.

"Why is Dora crying?" the ad asks. "Time Warner Cable is taking Dora off the air tonight!" The ad urges viewers to call Time Warner Cable and demand that their favorite shows remain on the air.

If the shows go dark after midnight, Time Warner Cable will send people to the Internet to catch episodes. Dudley said the cable operator also will make available a video teaching people how to hook their computers up to the TV to watch online shows â a tactic it used during a contract dispute with broadcaster LIN TV in October.

Part of the disagreement is that most of Viacom's popular shows are rerun on Web sites where Viacom collects advertising revenue that it does not share with Time Warner, Dudley said. "We don't think that's fair," he said.

Viacom has staked much of its revenue-growth prospects on its ability to extract higher carriage rates out of its cable and satellite affiliates despite an ad slowdown and weak ratings.

In the third quarter, media network revenue, which accounts for about two-thirds of Viacom's total, grew 6 percent to $2.1 billion, despite global ad revenue falling 2 percent, largely because of double-digit percentage growth in affiliate fees and the success of its "Rock Band" video game.

Viacom shares rose 45 cents, 2.3 percent, to $19.71 in late morning trading Wednesday. Time Warner Cable shares lost 39 cents, 1.8 percent, to $21.37.

you have to split the section you want and go to the audio tab on the top. you will see mute and you will be able to mute that section.

My 2 best friends are in a fight and I'm stuck in the middle forced to choose sides what should I do?

Q. Well my 2 best friends in my class right now, let's call them Spongebob and Patrick, are in a fight. They have been fighting every single day and yesterday they said they just can't take it anymore. They hate fighting with each other but they both can't stop because they just don't like each other and like can't be friends anymore. So now they aren't talking, and I'm stuck in the middle. And it's one of those fights where like you KNOW they are serious and they hate each other. But anyway, Spongebob moved her seat away from me and Patrick and is dropping out of our group for a field trip to the Bronx Zoo. But Patrick got all of Spongebob's friends to turn against her so Spongebob has like no friends anymore. And I told them I wasn't going to choose a side, but how can I not because if I don't choose a side then I will be left with losing both friends because it's not like I can make a schedule to hang out with each of them. Sorry I need to add details to finish the story READ DETAILS!
I'e told them I hat being stuck in the middle, but they won't make up. And last night on the phone I told Spongebob I would choose her side because she needs me more right now even though I still want to be Patrick's friend. But I'm sick and staying home from school today, so who knows what is going to happen. Please help!!!

In you're story, Spongebob is the lonely one. Same here. Patrick turned all the girls in the class against Spongebob. I was hanging with my friends, I didn't know that a fight was going on. Spongebob came to me and asked me if she can hang out with me. I said yes. I only knew the problem the next day. But I felt that I chose the right side. Turning all our friends against Spongebob was rude. So choose Spongebob's side.

why do some parents think spongebob is for pre schoolers?

How idiotic. If there are such jokes, they're HIDDEN.

Little kids don't realize them. Spongebob is so successful for a reason, it's funny and doesn't have anything bordering inappropriate, I mean there are even nurseries with spongebob. I love him, I watch those cartoons with my 1 year old and I've never seen anything threatening my kid's innocence.

That kid you're talking about, it was the dad's fault for having the "Talk" if your kid's SO young that they'll repeat what they see on TV. Spongebob said GENUIS, not penis. It's the girl who's acting inappropriate, not the show. And the parent's fault for teaching her the word penis, not the show.

Get over it and stop bashing.

I grew up watching spongebob (the old episodes) and as a child I watched the shows thinking all sorts of things were funny, then for a while I felt I was too grown up to watch the show. But at the age of 15 I watched some of the older shows and I noticed that the creators had also thrown in a lot of jokes that kids wouldn't get but it would keep the adults entertained as well.

Having said all that, I was watching the newer shows and I noticed that they aren't funny to me now and I know they wouldn't have even been funny to me when I was 10. It almost seems like Spongebob has sold out for 3 year olds and stuff. I'm just wondering what other people think about spongebob

Basically the same thing. I liked it as a kid, grew out of it, then watched it later on and saw the adult humor in it, but find that the newer episodes are just silly, throwaway jokes that aren't funny to anyone (even my 7 year-old sister calls the new episodes stupid).

Help! I'm trying to vote on my favorite Top 10 Spongebob Episodes ever for the 10-year celebration this week at spongebob.com/bash, but I'm having trouble. For example, I feel as if I should vote on "Ripped Pants", but I've seen it so many times I can't stand to watch it anymore.

Are these good gifts for our children?

Q. My husband and I have two kids: a 14 year old daughter and a 6 year old daughter. We are very poor and we are on food stamps and stuff like that and living from paycheck to paycheck. They both share a bedroom and I wish they didn't have too. My oldest really is really creative and girly, loves to read and write and draw and loves make up and clothes. My youngest likes spongebob, play with dolls, and play outside. We have a 100 dollar limit for christmas and I was wondering will my daughters enjoy these gifts are bought them?
Oldest: Harry Potter series and Twilight series ( she never read them before), 4 hollister shirts and 2 hollister pants from a thrift shop, an art kit, a sketch book and easel, and makeup and candy as stocking stuffers from dollar store.
Youngest: A spongebob and patrick doll to sleep with, 3 spongebob coloring books, 2 baby dolls, 3 barbies, a jumprope, po go stick, and chalk to play outside, and 3 cute outfits from walmart and candy for stocking.

I'm sure anything you give them will be perfect. They will appreciate you and love you no matter what, for better or worse. They will not resent you for not having the most expensive items or the cheapest. Instead they will love you unconditionally. When I was a kid I always just wanted time with my mom, I didn't care too much for material items. But I'm sure they will love the things you give them. Merry Christmas :)
