How to Cheat on Your Driving Test (Well, Okay Not Really...)

In my last article I discussed five mistakes that are commonly made during the driving test and how to avoid them. In this article, we will focus not on the mistakes themselves but on what is often the underlying cause, fear, and some of the things that you can do to help manage your nerves.
Whether you're heading out to your very first road test or you've already failed more times than Spongebob, nerves are likely to play a big role in whether you come home from the DMV with license in hand or your tail between your legs. The good news is that, although it cannot be eliminated completely, fear can be greatly reduced and successfully managed. Here are five tips that will help you do just that.

1. Know your ride.

It always surprised me as an examiner how many people would attempt their driver's test in a car that was different from the one that they had done most of their learning in. If you are considering this, don't! Although switching vehicles is not a problem for a driver with experience, it can cause difficulty for a newer driver. Each car is a different size. Each car accelerates, brakes and handles differently and provides for different levels of road visibility. If you have practiced in a particular car, use it during the road test.

2. Leave the pimped out '63 Impala at home, player.

You should avoid taking your driving test in a large vehicle if at all possible. Bigger vehicles (SUV's, trucks, vans, station wagons, armored personnel carriers, etc.) are more difficult to maneuver which, in addition to being a problem generally, is a particular issue if your road test includes parallel parking. They also provide less visibility and make it more difficult to judge traffic around you. Finally, and most importantly, larger vehicles tend to make the examiner feel less in control and thus, more nervous. And that's a very bad thing. So, think about the vehicle you're planning on using for the test. If it has a swimming pool in the back, think again.

3. Steal the test routes.

This one is my favorite because it's practically like cheating. Each DMV has a set of fixed routes that it uses and they are all located within a fairly small radius (usually a few miles) around the DMV building. Generally, each route is about the same length and is made up of different combinations of the same limited number of roads. If you can determine which roads are included in the testing routes (something a local driving school may be able to tell you) you can practice extensively on them and become very familiar with the roads on which you will be tested. In fact, you might even consider sitting outside the DMV in your car and simply following people on their road tests. Do this enough times and you'll know all the routes. The best part? There's nothing the DMV can do about it. Hey, it's a free country, right?

4. Know what time it is.

Nothing will put you in a worse mindset than scrambling to the DMV not knowing whether you will be on time for your road test. Ensure that you are ready to go well ahead of schedule. Check to see that you have your learners permit/license with you and that you have your car keys. Make sure that the person who is giving you a ride to the test is reliable and picks you up early and lastly, leave extra time to get there. If you expect that it will take half an hour to get to the DMV, leave home at least 45 minutes before your test. If you live in a city where traffic is unpredictable or there might be a line-up at the DMV when you get there, leave even earlier. The last thing you want is to be heading into your road test in a state of panic.

5. Question Authority.

New drivers often have questions about the rules of the road or what to do in a particular situation that may arise during the test. In addition, they may have heard horror stories of things that have happened to others during their tests or received conflicting advice from friends about the testing process. If you have any questions whatsoever, the examiner will be happy to answer them before the test and you should not hesitate to ask. However, keep in mind that once the car is in motion, the examiner's role is simply to direct you around the test route and observe your driving. While the road test is in progress, the examiner will not normally answer questions unless they relate to a clarification of the instructions that he or she is giving you.

The point is that there is really not a lot to fear if you are relaxed and well prepared. Remember the five tips outlined above and you should be well on your way. Good luck and good driving!

Anything PBS is not allowed.They use their children's programming to promote liberal and gay lifestyles that are unhealthy. There are several shows as well that call each other "stupid" or other things. I also do not like some of the values they teach through some of the shows like Barney where they give a false look at strangers as well as use conjuring through chanting to make things or people appear.
We also do not allow any of the Nickelodeon channels because they support gay lifestyles. Spongebob is one such cartoon where producers of the show have said it is all about progay life. They also talk horribly to each other in the show. It is not something I will ever allow my son to watch. Cartoon network is just weird and doesn't need to be viewed by anyone. Disney channel is iffy on some of their content lately for some of the things they are promoting on there in witchcraft, sorcery and phsycic things. (That's so Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, Twitches movies etc..) Some of Disney's programming has also been iffy in our home because of their negative language towards adoption and adoptive families. They do not present a good image for those families.

I don't think there is any such thing as being "too strict" when it comes to eliminating TV programs from our children. There are plenty of other things that they CAN do or watch that are much healthier and more beneficial to them. We read together and visit the library frequently to check out books. My son loves Veggie Tales and Thomas. He is also allowed to listen to children's songs and Sunday School type songs for kids. We are not totally against all Disney and have several of the older films (and some current) that he will be allowed to watch when he is a little older. Those include Peter Pan, Aladdin, Follow Me Boys, Toy Story, the Incredibles for a few. We watch alot of the older shows in our home like the Cosby show early episodes, Andy Griffith and the Beverly Hillbillies black and white shows. It is up to us as parents to protect our children's minds and hearts from what they take in through TV and other media forms. In our home we believe in "garbage in, garbage out" theory when it comes to things like TV, music or movies.

Top 5 least favorite SpongeBob episodes?

All my least favorite episodes are AFTER the movie, and I was just curious what yours are and why.

1. One Coarse Meal- Mr.Krabs was downright cruel in this episode and this is one reason why he's my least favorite character. After he learns that Plankton is afraid of whales he dresses up as one and scares him for NO reason. In fact, he scares Plankton so much it drives him to attempt suicide by laying in the middle of the road. This episode just shows how mean Mr.Krabs really is and how he can get away with it because he's portrayed as the good guy and Plankton is shown "deserving" what Mr.Krabs does to him.
2. A Pal For Gary- SpongeBob was mean in this episode. He feels bad for leaving Gary alone so much while he goes to work so he gets a companion for him from this sketchy stand on the side of the road and totally ignores the lady's warning that the animals don't like other pets. So SpongeBob name's this...thing Puffy Fluffy and introduces him to Gary. But this ball of evil just keeps attacking Gary whenever SpongeBob leaves, and then SpongeBob blames Gary for being mean to Puffy Fluffy. Even when that creature is about to eat Gary, SpongeBob JerkPants yells at Gary to put Puffy Fluffy down and after Gary saves SpongeBob from Puffy Fluffy he has the nerve to yell and blame Gary for making that monster thingy leave.
3. Squid's Visit- SpongeBob was just waaay too creepy and stalkerish in this episode for me. Plus I felt really bad for Squidward when he said, "He copied all 492 of my self portraits...and they're better than mine" Because even when people tell Squidward he sucks, he just brushes it off because he's so confident in himself and his talents, so it was just hard seeing him doubt himself like that.
4. Plankton's Regular- This one seriously made me want to give Plankton a huge hug because I felt so bad for him. After finally getting a customer that seemed to really enjoy his Chum, Mr.PettyKrabs starts throwing a hissy fit because of it and sets out to force Plankton's regular to like Krabby Patties. And as if that's not bad enough, at the end of the episode we learn that Karen PAID the customer to eat at the Chum Bucket so Plankton would stop complaining. This makes Plankton cry and Douchecanoe Krabs stays there and laughs at him. This episode is another reason why I despise Krabs.
5. Are You Happy Now?- Not only is it an episode I don't like because of how dark it was towards the end with suicide jokes, but it didn't make any sense. Squidward has had tons of happy memories. (Beating Squilliam at the Bubble Bowl in Band Geeks, winning House Fancy, going on a date with that squid girl, going to Atlantis with everyone.)

Maybe I read too much into some of these episodes, but this is why I don't like them haha.

Everytime I do the spongebob fast, it ends up looking like the reject?

Whenever I do the spongebob dance fast, it looks like a weird version of the reject. How do I make it not look so much like the reject? Do I need to jump a little farther out??

Remember: spongebob is more side to side while the reject is more back to front. Try to jump farther in/out (without going too far), and make sure your emphasizing the side to side action

I feel like they're always giving hints, like for the secret sauce and stuff. I think they've said a few ingedients too really fast and on that episode when spongebob forgets, or when he cooks for neptune. There's an order too haha. I havent watched any of the new episodes for the past few years, so i wanted to know if they gave it away. Anyone ever figure it all out? Lol.

Nick.com has a recipe made up for Krabby Patties even though they aren't hamburgers like shown in the tv show.

In a feature on the DVD release of "Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies", Tom Kenny (the voice of Spongebob) mentioned that there IS a real Krabby Patty recipe, and many fast-food enterpeneurs have tried to ask for it. When the actors who play the characters on the show first signed up, they (quoted by Tom Kenny) "had to sign reams and reams of disclaimers saying that, 'IF the [true] Krabby patty recipe were to ever be revealed to anyone, then... there would be auditions for your character the next day.'"

However, in the November 2004 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine, there was an interview with Stephen Hillenburg where Steve reveals that he doesn't know the Krabby Patty recipe.


Ingredients
---------------
2 tbsp. finely chopped onion

2 tbsp. finely chopped celery

4-6 tbsp. vegetable oil

1 tsp. thyme

1 lb. frozen imitation crabmeat, (defrosted and finely chopped in a food processor)

3/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs

1 tbsp. Dijon mustard

2 tbsp. mayonnaise (plus 1 cup for dipping sauce)

2 eggs, lightly beaten

Salt and pepper (to taste)

3 tbsp. ketchup (for dipping sauce)


Cooking method

Step 1 - Sauté the onions and celery in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the thyme, lower the heat, and cook until the onions are translucent.

Step 2 - In a large bowl combine the crabmeat, sautéed onions and celery, bread crumbs, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, egg, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
Step 3 - Shape into rounds by using a small ice cream scoop, then gently pat flat.

Step 4 - Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Working in batches (2 to 3 crab cakes at a time) place the crab cakes in a skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. You may need to add more oil for the second and third batches.

Step 5 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Transfer the crab cakes to the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes. The crab cakes can be kept in a warm oven for approximately 30 minutes, or they may be reheated at serving time. Serve with a kid-friendly dipping sauce. Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise with 3 tablespoons of ketchup. Try eating it with bread.
