It is really tricky to try and outdo the first movie, without becoming too repetitive. I recommend for the second they replace Hasselhoff with Zooey Deschanel or if you must stick to the older generation of actors you could use David's partner in saving lives, Pamela Anderson.
As far as the plot they would either need to use Dennis's brother, cousin, friend or someone completely unlike Dennis. And the mission could be King Neptune calling their expertise in recovering things to get his trident back, from the deepest region in the ocean the Mariana Trench.
