Over the summer my mom, my three brothers, and propably two friends and I are going to Las Vegas. I am 14 my and my brothers are 13, 12 , and 8 my the friends are 14 and 12 and I was wondering what is the best hotel for us. Best Pool best location to walk around and see things just overall best kid or family hotel.

Answer
With that many people you would definitely have to have at least 2 rooms, they only allow 4 per room. For a more affordable option, I would recommend getting adjoining rooms at Excalibur. It is a big castle and has a midway in the basement. The Midway is an area full of carnival games like balloon darts and skeeball that are affordable and easy to win. The prizes are stuffed animals, pillows, etc. They also have the spongebob 4D ride and the Tournament of Kings dinner show which features knights on real horses in jousting competitions.

The standard rooms are not very nice but you can upgrade to the widescreen rooms for a nicer, more modern feel. They include widescreen tv's. You can usually find rates around $30/night so for 2 rooms it could be just $60/night. Find great rates here http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx

The pool area is actually very nice with a total of 4 large pools and a couple of hot tubs. One pool and hot tub is for 21+ but it is the smallest and shallowest pool, so no big deal. One of the other pools has a waterslide that is fun.

Excalibur is connected to Luxor and Mandalay Bay so you will be able to view the Egyptian theme of Luxor and easily walk or tram over to Mandalay Bay to visit the Shark Reef. Right across the street from Excalibur is NewYork NewYork that has an arcade and a roller coaster and MGM Grand with the Lion Habitat. I would get a bus pass for 1 or 2 days and go to Circus Circus and visit the Adventuredome which is an indoor theme park, and the hotel also has Circus acts. I would not recommend staying there because as a hotel it is kind of a dump and it is far away from everything else (not within walking distance).

To help you picture things here is a map of the strip http://www.vegas.com/lounge/map.html and here is a list of kid-friendly attractions http://www.vegas.com/attractions/kids.html

What are some things you MUST do when you are in Vegas?

Going this weekend and would love to hear of some new options before we go! Thanks!
We like to do things the cheaper way...cover charges suck. Like to do things like go to Oshea's. The goal this trip is to relax at amazing pools by day and party rowdy by night. Some personal favorites on Fremont St. would be great, or any others we wouldn't know about!
