Im a TV fanatic, and i love all kinds of shows, from Law and Order to Spongebob (except family guy, I hate that show) Anyways, ive noticed that in a few of my favorite series, the episodes are great at the beggining of the series, and then, either slowly or worse very suddey, they become terrible. Here are some examples:
The simpsons
MASH
The office
MST3K
And worst of all: my favorite: Spongebob Squarepants
Dont you notice a pattern here? Or is there a different explinstion for each one? Id really like to know. Thanks!!

P.S. for all the king of the hill fans out there, i cant believe they canceled that too; and worse, replaced it with the cleveland show . "Ugh". Comment if you can relate

Answer
I actually think that MST3K shouldn't be included in that category, but I agree with you for the rest of them. The producers of the show run out of fresh material or new ideas, and they become obsessed with making money.

With Mystery Science Theater, the show began with a tiny budget and no scripts at all. As the show grew more and more popular, the budget grew, and they could afford new sets, a script-writer, and better costumes. I'm curious...why do you think that the show got worse with every season?

Well, I suppose that it depends on whether you're a "Joel fan" or a "Mike fan". I'm personally a Mike fan because I think he had more energy and personality outside of the theater, as well as a better relationship with the villains. But I can see why people like Joel...he's a natural, and the only one to have invention exchanges with the mad scientists.

Also, a lot of the MST3K episodes were either "hit or miss". They were either funny or okay. If you're looking for funny episodes in the later season, I suggest the following: Laserblast, This Island Earth, Jack Frost, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, Hamlet, and Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders.

(Wow, I had a major nerd rant. For that, I apologize.)

What is the hand rubbing thing villains do when the laugh called?

You know in old movies and the villains tie a damsel to a railroad and they laugh madly? What's that hand rubbing thing they do called? The Taddle Tale Strangler did it in an episode of Spongebob once. Just curious.

Answer
It's just called rubbing the hands together.

In drama, rubbing hands can signify various things, such as a miser rubbing his palms together over money, Lady Macbeth washing the blood off her hands, a villain having just done a wicked deed, or a person simply anticipating a journey, a good meal, or meeting with a boyfriend/girlfriend.
