first you should know that most video downloaded from youtube are in .flv format, but supportable formats for windows movie maker:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
Movie files: .mpeg1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2
Audio files: .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff
Windows Media files: .asf, .wm, .wma, .wmv
Still images: .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .gif
MP3 format audio: .mp3

so, what you need is convert the youtube video to Windows Movie Maker compatible with format with a video converter. if you like, try the one im using now, it works great for me. It could convert between any video formats.

This christmas I am getting a laptop and I thought it would be a good idea to make a funny youtube poop. I am lacking stuff like chowder and spongebob to make youtube poop. Also what software should I use?

Hmm you should get the youtube downloader
It's free to download and easy to use.
Just download the youtube videos with that and edit it on any video editing software
I use windows movie maker, but I'd recommend something better. But WMM works fine too.
